“I’m still not sure Milwaukee won the championship,” Robin Lopez said sarcastically.
It’s unclear if the NBA veteran is laughing at his former team, his brother, or both. Robin is the twin brother of Milwaukee Bucks center Brook Lopez. Robin also played for the Bucks in the 2019-20 season.
“I didn’t watch the game,” Lopez said at Monday’s media day press conference. The Orlando Magic center was among the players who answered questions from NBA reporters on Monday.
The burning question is whether or not players are vaccinated against COVID-19.
The face of the Milwaukee Bucks organization, Giannis Antetokounmpo, announced that he was vaccinated against COVID-19.
Other NBA players have shared their vaccination status and thoughts on the reluctance, including Portland Trailblazers All-Star goalie Damian Lillard (see video in tweet below).
Some media are questioning whether or not Lopez was reluctant to get the shot when he said “I’m going to do my own research and figure out if they won it,” of the Bucks.
NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has been clear on his thoughts on the reluctance of NBA players to get the shot: get shot or get kicked from the team.
“The NBA should insist that all players and staff be vaccinated or remove them from the squad,” Abdul-Jabbar said in an article published by Rolling Stone on Saturday.
Milwaukee Bucks Gov. Marc Lasry said the “vast majority” of the team were vaccinated.
