The Los Angeles Lakers had the Memphis Grizzlies on the ropes for three quarters of the game, but still lost in the end.
The loss now puts LA at 17-19 this season, and Los Angeles have lost six of their last seven games. The only win in the streak came against the Houston Rockets.
Los Angeles could have easily avoided that loss after maintaining a lead for much of the game, but it all fell apart in the end.
LeBron James once again carried the Lakers’ charge with 37 points on the night, including an 8 of 14 clip from downtown. However, his star teammate Russell Westbrook had just 16 points on 16 shots.
Here’s what NBA Twitter had to say after the loss:
It’s understandable if the Lakers’ legs were dead, but it’s yet another missed opportunity in a season full of them.

Triple-double means nothing in a loss.

Russell Westbrook again misses the lay-ups in critical time. Just unreal.

So far we’ve got a nice quadruple-double performance from Russell Westbrook in this game.

Ja Morant said the victory was even better knowing that he “had to send these people dressed in purple and yellow home sad.”
