NBA announces players, rookies and coaches of the month


Golden State Warriors goalie Stephen Curry and Washington Wizards goaltender Russell Westbrook were named NBA Players of the Month for May.

Curry ended the season on a tear as he led the Warriors to the Play-In tournament and, in the process, won his second career NBA title. Curry finished the month averaging 36.8 points, 5.6 assists and 5.1 rebounds in 8 games.

Westbrook surpassed Oscar Robertson this month for the most triple-doubles of all time as he led the Wizards to eighth in the East. Westbrook averaged 26.3 points, 16.1 assists and 13.8 rebounds in 9 games in May.


Edwards and Hampton win Rookies of the Month

Minnesota Timberwolves forward Anthony Edwards and Orlando Magic goaltender RJ Hampton have been selected as NBA Rookies of the Month for May.

Edwards, the top pick overall, continued his dominant rookie season averaging 27.0 points (52.8 FG%, 40.6 3P%) in May, 5.5 rebounds and 4.8 assists.

Hampton took advantage of increased playing time with Orlando in May to average 16.0 points (45.7 FG%, 43.5 3P%), 7.1 rebounds and 5.6 assists in 8 games .


Stotts, Thibodeau named coach of the month

Portland Trail Blazers coach Terry Stotts and New York Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau were named NBA Coach of the Month for May.

Stotts coached the Blazers to a 7-2 record in May as the team won sixth place in the West to avoid the Play-In tournament.

Thibodeau and the Knicks continued their special season with a 6-3 record in May to secure the No. 4 seed in the East and the field advantage in the first round.
