Basketball championship: Hoopsters, hoop clubs go off with a bang: The Tribune India

Ludhiana, November 10

Hoopsters Club and Guru Nanak Hoopers Club started their campaign in style, recording victories in the Under-18 Men’s and Women’s sections respectively, in the inaugural edition of the Punjab Open 3×3 Basketball Championship held at the stadium Guru Nanak here.

Among the boys, the players of the Hoopsters Club have won all their matches. They beat Muktars Club 22-10, won over Government Comprehensive School (II) 16-14, topped Drakes 14-9, topped Multi Cagers Club 15-14 and topped Kashi Club 16-12 to advance to the third round.

On the girls’ side, the Guru Nanak Hoopers Club outscored the Khalsa Lakers Club 17-8 and beat The Unirise School 13-1.

In the boys ‘section, up to 42 teams participate and 10 teams compete in the girls’ section.

The six-day cash prize championship is organized by 3BL with the help of the Punjab Basketball Association to popularize the fastest and shortest game format which is not only the second official discipline of the International Federation. of Basketball (FIBA), but which will be played at the next Commonwealth Games and Olympic Games.

Parminder Singh Jr, ADCP, Ludhiana and former international basketball star, opened the championship. He wished the participants good luck.

Teja Singh Dhaliwal, Honorary Secretary General, PBA, and JP Singh, President of the District Basketball Association, Ludhiana, officials and coaches were among others present.
